LAHORE:The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has initiated a comprehensive sanitation plan ahead of Eidul Fitr 2024 to ensure clean surroundings for the citizens.
Under the supervision of LWMC CEO Babar Sahib Din, a pre-Eid zero-waste operation started in City. This cleaning operation, beginning on Chand Raat, will continue until the second day of Eid.
More than 10,000 LWMC workers and over 1,200 operational vehicles are participating in this cleaning endeavour. CEO Babar Sahib Din emphasised that the teams were focusing on the special cleaning of more than 1,500 mosques and Eidgah, along with the completion of cleaning processes in 250 graveyards. Furthermore, 149 major commercial markets will be transformed into zero-waste zones, while 831km of roads will undergo mechanical sweeping. Additionally, water will be sprinkled around mousques, Eidgah, and routes leading to graveyards. According to LWMC spokesperson, special cleaning teams were deployed at Taraweeh locations, mosques, and potential routes across all towns. They are also ensuring cleanliness at more than 47 Iftar dasterkhawan during Ramadan.
