Tax tiger

India has 58 million taxpayers while our tax net is limited to below one million. India’s population is six times that of ours and its tax net is 60 times larger than us. What this underscores is the stark difference in the level of economic development and the extent of tax evasion and corruption here.

If we start now, it will take many years to catch up with India in terms of development and technology. This is food for thought for those dreaming of making Pakistan an Asian Tiger.
