Islamabad: Owners of plots in Islamabad's sector I-12 have complained about prolonged delays in development of their residential area and demanded of authorities to ensure an immediate grant of plot possession to them to their relief.

The demand was made by a delegation of these allottees in a series of meetings with key officers of the Capital Development Authority, including Member (Engineering) Dr. Muhammad Khalid Hafiz, Member (Finance) Tahir Naeem Akhter and Director (Sector Development) Faisal Raza Khan.

The visitors voiced their grievances over the sluggish development work in I-12, which, they insisted, is delaying the construction of roads, laying of sewerage systems, and installation of electricity connections.

They said long delays in the completion of work had stressed out plot owners. The plot allottees called for an immediate resumption of work on major roads, laying of underground electricity lines, and the construction of underpasses and overhead bridges on railway lines passing through the sector.

They also demanded an early disposal of garbage piled up in the area. Drawing attention to the provisional possession granted to some allottees in Sector E-12, Professor Khumar Gul, a representative of the allottees, urged the authorities to adopt a similar approach for Sector I-12. He said the allottees like him had retired from government service while awaiting development of sector I-12.

Responding to the concerns raised, Dr. Khalid Hafiz, Member Engineering, expressed openness to considering provisional possession for the allottees. He stressed the importance of accelerating development in Sector I-12, emphasising that the sector's progress directly impacts the CDA's ability to collect taxes from allottees.

Dr. Khaild assured visitors that the completion of infrastructure projects in I-12 would be prioritised for the early grant of plot possession to allottees. He said the CDA was committed to the early completion of development work in light of its importance for both the allottees and the financial stability of the CDA.
