Senate polls are scheduled for April 2 at the KP assembly hall
PESHAWAR: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has said the letter was sent to the secretary of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on March 19 about the arrangements for the Senate polls to be held on April 2.
Responding to a statement by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Speaker Babar Saleem Swat, the spokesman for the provincial election commissioner said on Monday that the ECP sent written guidelines on March 21 for the voters to the secretary KP Assembly and the secretariat had confirmed receiving it on March 26.
“The ECP has been constantly in contact with the secretary KP Assembly regarding the Senate polls,” said the spokesman.
He added that notification of the appointment of the returning officer was shared on March 10 while on March 14 the public notice and other details for the polls were shared with the secretary assembly.
Senate polls are scheduled for April 2 at the KP assembly hall. The ECP in a petition filed by MPAs elected on seats reserved for women later remarked that polls could be postponed if the house was not complete and the notified members were not administered the oath.
