The National Academy of Performing Arts (Napa) hosted a Qawwali event along with Sehri in the early hours of Sunday.
Titled Bazm-e-Aqeedat, the event featured Qawwali performance by Saami Brothers — Rauf Saami, Urooj Saami, Azeem Saami, and Ahmed Saami — who have been bearing the torch of the Qawwal Bachon Ka Gharana. They sang Qawwalis with devotional lyrics in the traditional style of their Gharana.
The performers sang multiple Qawwalis and created a spiritual aura that was appreciated by the audience. One of such was ‘Shehr-e-Nabi Ki Baat No Poocho’. Another one ‘Lam Yati Nazeeru’ had Arabic lyrics in the start.
Other popular Qawwalis they sang were ‘Tanam Farsooda Jan Para’ and ‘Chhaap Tilak’. Syed Nusrat Ali was the host of the Qawwali performance that was followed by Sehri. Napa has been organising similar Qawwali events in Ramazan providing opportunity to the fans of devotional music to get delighted by the art of expert Qawwali singers.
