IHC disposes of appeal to include Nazra Quran in syllabus of school

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court (IHC) has wrapped up the intra-court appeal to include Nazra Quran in the syllabus of schools.

The court has given this decision on reply from Ministry of Education. Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani and Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq of IHC announced the decision on intra-court appeal with reference to inclusion of teachings of Holy Quran in the syllabus of schools.

IHC made it clear in the decision that Ministry of Education was asked to make compulsory Quran teachings in the syllabus under 2017 Act. It was told that Quran teachings have been included in the syllabus. According to the court, National Syllabus Council Secretariat has issued NOC for Nazra Quran and translation of Quran.

Islamabad Private Education Authority issued letters to the private educational institutions for implementation. Deputy director legal Ministry of Education filed 7 volumes of the books.

As per IHC decision these courses have been published in Urdu English and Sindhi languages for the students.

Quran teachings were included in the syllabus from grade 1 to grade 5. Translation of Quran was included in the syllabus from grade 6 to grade 12. It is pertinent to mention here Syed Masood Hassan Gillani had filed intra-court appeal against single bench decision.
