Murdered businessman’s wife, companion held for questioning
Two suspects, including the wife of a slain businessman, have reportedly taken into custody by police probing the murder of the businessman in an apartment building in DHA in Karachi earlier this month.
Jahanzeb Malik, 34, son of Ghulam Rasool, was found dead in a flat on the 20th floor of the building in Defence Housing Authority’s Phase VIII within the limits of the Sahil police station on March 4.
The wife, identified as Shireen, had been missing since the gruesome incident. Police said Shireen and her accomplice Osama were being interrogated to ascertain whether the murder was committed by them or someone else.
Osama works at a private hospital, the police said and added that Malik had married Shireen five years ago, with whom he had a son and a daughter. The businessman had purchased the flat in his wife’s name a month before his murder. The investigations revealed that Malik had been killed around eight to 10 hours before the discovery of his body and he was shot in the back of his head with a 9 mm pistol.
The victim owned an electrical appliances shop named Electronic Umpire in the Khada Market. Four live and three spent rounds were found at the crime scene and sent to the forensic division.
