First among equals

This refers to the news report, ‘Tareen, Nawaz’s children own assets abroad: what is the difference, ask Shahbaz’ (May 2). The Punjab chief minister should be reminded that Nawaz Sharif is the prime minister while Jahangir Tareen is an opposition leader.

The Nawaz family is supposed to be a role model for the rest of the country. Accountability has to be proportional to the position or office occupied by the person held accountable. We are living in a society where some are more equal than others. One does not need to be a PhD to appreciate this obvious distinction.
