Maryam orders running campaign for eradication of kite-flying
On the direction of the CM, a notification has been issued in this regard
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Saturday took notice of the death of a young man due to kite string in Faisalabad and ordered an investigation into the incident and strict action against the responsible.
She expressed indignation over the failure to prevent kite flying. She said kite flying had become a blood sport and a punishable crime. It cannot be allowed to put a citizen’s life at risk for fun. She directed the authorities concerned to take effective measures to deal with the menace of kite flying. She ordered running a campaign for the eradication of kite-flying across the province. She ordered the chief secretary, district administration and police to ensure implementation of a ban on kite flying.
On the direction of the CM, a notification has been issued in this regard. She sought a report from the IG Police on the Faisalabad incident within 48 hours. She said despite imposition of a ban on kite flying under the Punjab Prohibition of Kite Flying Ordinance 2001, the occurrence of such incidents across Punjab was highly deplorable. A crackdown must be launched on those found involved in committing violation of the kite-flying ban, she said.In her message on the Pakistan Day here on Saturday, Mryam Nawaz said, “The Pakistan Day is the day to renew our pledge of allegiance to the motherland.”
She said for the construction of Pakistan, the spirit of Tehreek-e-Pakistan was still needed. “The nation pays homage to Muslim League leaders who passed the Pakistan resolution. March 23 is also a day to pay homage to the Azadi movement and its martyrs,” she said, adding that like the Pakistan Resolution, today the resolution of development of Pakistan was the need of the hour. The Muslim League fought for the creation of Pakistan in the 1940s and now under the leadership of Nawaz Sharif, the PMLN was following the resolution of building Pakistan. “Today we all have to pass a resolution against terrorism, corruption, poverty and unemployment. Today the government has to pass a resolution to serve people and make them responsible citizens.” She highlighted: “We also have to pass a resolution to keep the environment clean and make Pakistan developed and beautiful. The youth must adopt a resolution to work for the stability and development of Pakistan.”
