LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman and Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi revealed that both the Champions Trophy and a tri-nation series will be hosted in Pakistan in 2025.

Mohsin Naqvi took to Twitter to share the exciting news, stating, “I attended the ICC meeting in Dubai, and God willing, the Champions Trophy will be held in Pakistan in February 2025.”

He further mentioned discussions with the Chairman of New Zealand Cricket, Roger Twose, and the Chairman of South Africa Cricket, Lawson Naidoo, regarding the upcoming events.

Meanwhile, the PCB has been actively working on finalising the coaching staff for the national team.

Former Australian cricketer Shane Watson was considered a strong contender for the position of head coach.

However, due to personal commitments and pre-planned family engagements, Watson had to withdraw from consideration.

Discussions between the PCB and Watson had initially progressed positively, given his experience and expertise in cricket.

However, no further talks have taken place since Watson’s return from coaching the Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Consequently, Watson’s candidacy for the head coach role has been ruled out, prompting the PCB to explore other potential candidates for the position.
