ISLAMABAD, MIRPUR: The 26th meeting of the University of Poonch (UoP), Rawalakot Senate was held under the chairmanship of President Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry.
The meeting was attended by the Vice Chancellor University of Poonch Professor Dr Zikria Zakir, former VC University of Kotli Professor Dr Ghulam Ghos, former VC University of Home Economics Lahore Professor Dr Kanwal Amin, Professor (Retd) Dr Azhra Latif, Representative Higher Education Commission Engineer Muhammad Raza and others.
Prof Dr Zakaria Zakir briefed the Senate members about the ongoing development projects and curricular activities at the University. Dr Zakir also briefed the President regarding the construction work of the Chhota Gala Campus of the University being built at Rs3.60 billion.
President Barrister Sultan Mehmood directed the administration of Jamia Poonch for early completion of the Chota Gala Campus. Stressing the need for enhancing the standard and quality of education, he said, “I want to see the University of Poonch among top-ranking universities of the world like Oxford, Cambridge and Harvard”.
He said: “The development of society is linked to education being a sustainable development tool. All the universities should take measures to improve the education quality.” Barrister Sultan also assured the VC Poonch University of his cooperation to improve the education system.
