Rawalpindi: The residents of Adiala Road are paying bills without water for a long time have decided to ‘Gahrao’ Commissioner Office against mafia which is ruling the whole Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) department for over two years.
The mafia deployed here was demanding ‘bribe’ to start supply water. Those giving ‘bribe’ enjoying supply water while others not for a long time but paying bills every month, the residents of the area alleged.
The residents of Saleha Street, Munawar Colony, Dama Syedan, Ali Town, Jarahi, Gorakhpur, Kalyal, Hill View Lane and others were facing worst water crisis for a long time. The locals are paying Rs3,000 to Rs3,500 to purchase a water tanker, people strongly protested.
‘The News’ contacted to some officials of WASA, they started blaming each others, calming that their bosses have ordered them to stop water supply to all areas of Saleha Street and Munawar Colony. When ‘The News’ contacted Sub-Engineer Ahmed Hasan, who was in deputation in Rawalpindi and having several additional charges in WASA denied all allegations and said that both of his subordinates were telling lie. “I am providing supply water all around without any difference,” he claimed.
The residents of Adiala Road have appealed higher authorities to take strict action against corrupt officers, they have gripped the whole WASA department.
