LAHORE: As the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) undergoes a period of restructuring under the new chairman Mohsin Naqvi, former captain Azhar Ali is likely to assume a significant role.

Rehan-ul-Haq, a former team manager, is also poised to return to the team management setup. Sources reveal that Naqvi is keen on leveraging Azhar’s cricketing expertise and is considering him for a role in either the selection committee or the high-performance center of the PCB. Azhar retired from Test cricket in 2022 after an illustrious career spanning 12 years. With 19 Test centuries, 35 half-centuries, and 7,097 Test runs at an average of 42.49, Azhar Ali is regarded as one of Pakistan’s most successful batters.
