LAHORE: The 10th J. A. Zaman Memorial Open Golf Championship concluded at Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course, with an exhilarating performance by Ahmed Baig from Royal Palm Golf Club.

The championship, spanning four days and 74 holes in the Professional segment, presented a total prize money of Rs7.5 million. The final round of the Professional section unfolded in a heated battle among champions Shabbir Iqbal, Ahmed Baig, Minhaj Maqsood, and Muhammed Nazir.

However, the turning point came on the 16th hole, where Ahmed Baig’s remarkable eagle propelled him into the lead. Buoyed by this pivotal moment, Ahmed Baig continued his stellar performance, securing birdies on the 17th and 18th holes. His consistency and skillful play resulted in him defending his title from the previous year.

Ahmed Baig concluded the four rounds with scores of 69, 72, 70, and 69, achieving a championship aggregate of 280, eight under par. Shabbir Iqbal secured the runner-up position with a total score of 282, losing to Ahmed Baig by two strokes. Minhaj Maqsood claimed the third position with an aggregate score of 283, seven under par.

Muhammed Nazir achieved a score of 284, six under par, securing a commendable position. Muhammed Alam with 285 (five under par), Muhammed Zubair with 288 (two under par), and Shahid Javed Khan, along with Muhammed Munir, both with 290 (two over par), showcased their skills in the competition.

In the amateur category, Shahzaib Khan emerged as the top performer, followed by Tipu Raja as the runner-up, and Hussain Hamid securing the third position.
