The Airport Security Force (ASF) on Tuesday foiled an attempt to smuggle currency and gold valued at Rs16 million on a Bangkok-bound flight at Karachi Airport.
An ASF spokesperson said a passenger, Imran Gul Awan, who was boarding a flight to Bangkok, was found to have concealed 251 grams of gold along with various foreign currencies, including US dollars, Hong Kong dollars, yuan, and riyals, in his luggage. Acting on suspicion, ASF personnel conducted a manual search of the bag, uncovering the concealed items and thwarting the bid to smuggle and launder money.
