Police said that 10 days ago, the incident of snatching Rs300,000 from the employee of a construction contractor had been reported. Shah Faisal Colony SHO Arshad Hussain said a suspect, Mohammad Qasim, an employee of contractor Amir Hamza, had been arrested.

Qasim had committed the crime along with his associates. The contractor told the police that 10 days ago, Qasim had left his house with Rs300,000 and later he had said he had been robbed by two armed men outside the house.

“The two suspects looted Rs300,000 in cash from my employee and fled,” contractor Hamza said. On February 12, a case was registered at the Shah Faisal Colony police station on the complaint of Amir Hamza.

SHO Arshad Hussain started questioning the employee, and Qasim kept telling new stories to the police during the interrogation. Later, Qaism admitted that he along with two his colleagues, Wajid Abbas and Sajid Abbas, had staged the incident.

Qasim said he had given Rs80,000 each to both his accomplices after the incident. The police arrested Wajid Abbas and seized a TT pistol and Rs40,000 from his possession.

Sajid Abbas, the third accomplice of the main suspect, was still absconding and would be arrested soon, the police said and added that they had also recovered Rs100,000 from the possession of the main suspect.
