The District West police announced on Thursday that they had cracked a murder mystery by apprehending a suspect responsible for the killing of an elderly man.

The Surjani Town police arrested the accused who had fatally shot Asmatullah, and also recovered the murder weapon. Two days ago, on February 20, 2024, Asmatullah, son of Asadullah, was gunned down in Surjani’s Taisar Town. A murder case (No. 233/2024) under section 302/34 was registered at the Surjani police station based on the complaint of the victim’s brother.

The SHO, along with the team, apprehended Farooq, son of Abdul Muttalib, the main accused in the murder, and also seized illegal weapons, ammunition, and a motorcycle used in the crime. Investigations revealed that a dispute between the accused’s father and the deceased led to the fatal shooting of Asmatullah.

A separate case of illegal arm recovery had been filed against the accused, who was alleged to have had a history of criminal activities and had previously been arrested in two cases and served time in jail.

Meanwhile, Gulbahar police arrested a wanted accused involved in street crime. Two armed individuals had previously robbed a man of a drone camera and two mobile phones in the Gulbahar area.

A case of robbery (section 392/397/34) was registered at the Gulbahar police station. Acting on technical grounds, as per the instructions of the District Central SSP, police apprehended one of the accused involved. The arrested man, Asghar Ahmed, son of Ahmed Musa, confessed to snatching the drone camera and was also found in possession of a 30-bore pistol with a loaded magazine containing two rounds.

He admitted that he and his associate, Arsalan, carried out the robbery at gunpoint. A separate case of illegal possession of arms and ammunition was registered against Asghar Ahmed under Section 23(1)A of the Gulbahar police station. Efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding accused, Arsalan.
