PTI’s Dawar Kundi declared winner on NA-43
TANK: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-backed independent candidate Dawar Khan Kundi was declared winner on NA-43, Tank-Dera Ismail Khan, after recounting on 50 polling stations in the constituency.
Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl candidate Maulana Asad Mahmood, son of JUIF chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman, had submitted an application for the recounting of 50 polling stations in NA-43 constituency.After completion of recounting and final results, Dawar Kundi won the seat with a lead of 555 votes.
As per the Form 49, Dawar Kundi polled 64,575 while Maulana Asad 64,020 votes. According to the results, Maulana Asad had lost the NA-43 seat on the polling day - February 8 - but he later demanded re-election on six polling stations, which was subsequently held on February 19.
However, he also lost the race after the re-election on six polling stations. He later demanded recounting on 50 polling stations, which also did not yield results as per his wishes to clinch the seat.
