ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has notified the victory of several more candidates for the National Assembly elections.
“ln pursuance of sub-section (1) of Section 98 of the Elections Act, 2017, the Election Commission of Pakistan hereby publishes the names of candidates returned to the National Assembly of Pakistan as a result of General Elections-2024…,” says the notification issued to this effect.
The notification also says that the independent candidates may join a political party within 3 days of the issuance of above notification under proviso of sub-clause (d) & (e) of clause (6) of Article 51 of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
The notification mentions victory of 37 more candidates of PMLN and six belonging to PPP. Likewise, the Election Commission has notified 54 returned independent candidates and one returned candidate of PML.
Prominent among those notified as returned candidates include ex-PM Mian Shehbaz Sharif from NA-132-II, Kasur, another former premier Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani from NA-148, Multan-I, his two sons: Syed Musa Gilani from NA-151, Multan-IV, Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani from NA-152, Multan-V, Begum Tehmina Daultana from NA-158, Vehari-III and Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada from NA-164, Bahawalpur-III.
The notified returned candidates also include Latif Khosa from NA-122, Lahore VI, Raza Hayat Haraj from NA-144, Khanewal-I and PTI leader Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s son Zain Hussain Qureshi from NA-150, Multan.
