ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has published the names of returned candidates from Karachi’s 21 National Assembly constituencies and from Attock’s two constituencies after the February 8 general elections.
The notifications have been issued under Sub-section (1) of Section 98 of the Elections Act, 2017. According to the notification concerning Karachi, 14 seats were won by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and seven by the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians (PPPP).
The MQM’s Aasia Ishaq Siddiqui won NA-232, Muhammad Jawed Hanif NA-233, Muhammad Aamer Pirzada NA-234, Muhammad Iqbal Khan NA-235, Hassan Sabir NA-236, Arshad Abdullah Vohra NA-240 and Syed Mustafa Kamal NA-242.
The party’s Muhammad Farooq Sattar won NA-244, Syed Hafizuddin NA-245, Syed Aminul Haq NA-246, Khawaja Izharul Hassan NA-247, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui NA-248, Ahmad Saleem Siddiqui NA-249 and Farhan Chishti NA-250.
As for the PPPP, Jam Abdul Karim won NA-229, Syed Rafiullah NA-230, Abdul Karim Baloch NA-231, Assad Aslam Niazi NA-237, Sabir Nabil Ahmad Gabol NA-239, Mirza Ikhtiar Baig NA-241 and Abdul Qadir Patel NA-243. The two NA constituencies of the Attock district went to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N): Sheikh Aftab Ahmad won NA-49 and Malik Sohail Khan NA-50. Muhammad Ijazul Haq of the PML-Zia has been formally notified as the winner of NA-163 Bahawalnagar. Some returned candidates of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly have also been notified.
