LAHORE: To ensure the implementation of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) action plan, the Punjab cabinet has approved the establishment of the Punjab Charities Commission Appellate Committee to redress the grievances NGOs, including charities and non-profit welfare organizations.
According to documents available with “Jang”, the appellate committee has been established under the Punjab Charities Act 2018, under which any aggrieved person belonging to NGOs, charities or non-profit welfare organizations, can challenge the decision of the Punjab Charities Commission regarding registration of an organisation, its cancellation or any other issue, in the appellate committee.
According to the documents, the Punjab Charities Commission Appellate Committee will be headed by the Chief Secretary, while Senior Member Board of Revenue (SMBR), the secretaries of industries, commerce, investment and skills development, and social welfare and Baitul Maal would be members.
