Murderer gets death

FAISALABAD: Additional Sessions Judge Malik Ali Raza on Tuesday awarded death sentence to a man in a murder case.
According to prosecution, Muhammad Naveed had murdered Imran Ahmad over some issue at Chak 274/RB, Dijkot, on June 24, 2012. He was also fined awarded by the court. The court acquitted nine co-accused, including Shaukat, Muhammad Saleem, Allah Rakha, Rafaqat, Younis, Qamar Hussain, Abdullah and Karamat, by giving them benefit of the doubt in the same case.
4 receive burns

FAISALABAD: Four people received severe burns when a fire erupted in a gas cylinders shop at Narwala Chowk here on Monday night.
The fire erupted in the shop due to short circuit and also damaged three adjoining shops. The injured were shifted to the Allied Hospital.
Man kills brother over land dispute

FAISALABAD: A man was beaten to death by his brother over a land dispute at Chak 560/GB, Lundianwala, on Tuesday.
Ghulam Mustafa was allegedly beaten to death by his brother Amanat Jutt over a land dispute. The accused fled after the incident. Police have registered a case.
Torture of colleagues in Sargodha
Doctors’ strike enters second day in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: The strike of young doctors against the alleged torture of their colleagues by a brother-in-law of the ruling party MNA in Sargodha entered the second day here on Tuesday.
The doctors of Allied Hospital, DHQ Hospital and FIC abstained from their duties and locked the offices. They also closed the OPDs and gathered outside their hospitals and chanted slogans against the government. They expressed their determination to continue the strike till the acceptance of their demand. Addressing the protest meetings, YDA president Dr Maroof, Dr Aqil Ahmad, Dr Najaf Pasha and PMA president Rai Arif and general secretary Dr Irfan demanded reinstatement of the suspended doctors of Sargodha. They also demanded registration of a case against the MNA’s brother-in-law and others on the charges of beating the doctors in a Sargodha hospital.
PARAMEDICS’ SIT-IN: Paramedics staged a sit-in outside the DCO Office and demanded immediate transfer of the health EDO for not implementing the Punjab government’s cadre package.
Addressing the protesting paramedics, Muttahida Action Committee leaders Anisur Rehman, Muhammad Ahmad, Sajid Hameed, Nayar Ali, Amer Sattar and Ch Muhammad Farooq claimed that the 4-cadre package had been implemented across the province, except Faisalabad. They alleged that the health EDO was intentionally delaying implementation of the package. They warned of hunger strike if the package was not implemented.
Quadruple murder: Two convicts hanged in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: Two murder convicts were hanged in the Central Jail here on Tuesday.
Tahir and Imran of Chak 55/GB, Jaranwala, had murdered Maqsood Khan, Azmaish Khan, Zaman Khan and Muhammad Asghar over a minor dispute about 11 years ago. The third accused, Liaqat Ali, was still at large. He had been declared a proclaimed offender by a court. Meanwhile, more that 100 relatives and family members of the two convicts held the last meeting with them in the jail on Monday.
