Transparent polling arrangements: Install CCTV cameras by midnight: CM

LAHORE : Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi chaired a meeting at the Chief Minister's Office Tuesday to discuss election arrangements in the province.

Addressing the attendees, Naqvi emphasised that internet and mobile services will remain operational throughout the province on election day without interruption. He instructed for the commencement of city cleaning activities on February 9, with banners and posters to be removed from all areas by the end of the day. Secretaries concerned were tasked with monitoring the removal process and reporting the completion of the task by evening on February 9.

Highlighting the importance of transparency, Naqvi urged district administrative officers to actively oversee election duties in the field. He noted the installation of 32,000 CCTV cameras at polling stations and emphasised the need to complete the installation by midnight. Naqvi commended the Punjab government for saving Rs1 billion in the procurement of CCTV cameras.

Emphasising adherence to SOPs and the Election Commission's code of conduct, Naqvi directed for the activation of control rooms and the establishment of an efficient complaint redress mechanism. He stressed that ensuring peaceful and fair elections is a national responsibility, urging everyone to work together as a team.

CM inaugurates Gujranwala teaching hospital

The chief minister inaugurated Gujranwala Teaching Hospital, inspected various sections and inquired the patients about the facilities. Incomplete hospitals have been swiftly completed alongside the upgradation of medical facilities, he added.

Inspects PIC, Services Hospital upgrade

The chief minister visited Services Hospital, overseeing various construction projects. He instructed for the expedited completion of the hospital's front façade and set deadlines for finishing the basement and ground floor.

During his visit to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology's lab and diagnostic centre under construction, the CM mandated its completion by the end of the month.

Opens Police Residences Project

A project to construct police residences was completed in 41 days. An event was organised to hand over the keys of these apartments to the police officers.

Mohsin Naqvi inaugurated the newly-built police apartments at Qurban Lines, named ‘One Lahore’.

During his address to the audience, the CM underscored the significance of addressing the longstanding issue of police accommodations and expressed his satisfaction with the exceptional quality of the apartments. The CM announced plans for the construction of an additional 313 houses for policemen, assuring the availability of funds for these projects.

Attends Lahore Biennale 3 ceremony

The CM attended the ceremony of Lahore Biennale 3 held at Alhamra. He toured the exhibition ‘From the Mountains to the Sea’ organised by the Biennale Foundation, where he was briefed by the Foundation's Curator, John Tan, regarding the exhibition's aims and objectives.

During the event, an MoU was inked between the Lahore Biennale Foundation and the Bank of Punjab, and another MoU was signed between the Foundation and the Lahore Walled City Authority, both in the presence of the CM. Addressing the gathering, Mohsin Naqvi underscored the importance of preserving the aesthetic appeal of Barkat Market, announcing plans for an underpass instead of a flyover.

CM, ministers visit Kartarpur

The chief minister accompanied by provincial ministers, the chief secretary, IGP, and senior officers, visited Kartarpur. Mohsin Naqvi emphasised the government's commitment to providing top-notch facilities for Sikh yatrees. He reiterated the desire to facilitate visa acquisition for them.
