Workshop on KP climate change adaptation plan

PESHAWAR: The Ministry of Climate Change & Environmental Coordination (MoCC&EC), in collaboration with the Planning and Development Department (P&DD) of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), organised a one-day awareness-raising workshop in Peshawar under its ongoing UNEP NAP-Project.

The workshop, attended by more than 70 participants representing various line departments, academia, NGOs, and international organizations, aimed to discuss the impact of climate change and formulate adaptation plans at both the provincial and district levels. Dr. Syed Sarfaraz Ali Shah, Advisor P&DD, Govt of KPK, presided over the event as the chief guest.

During the opening session, the Advisor P&DD highlighted the urgency of addressing natural disasters through adaptation measures, emphasizing the need for actionable plans. The additional chief secretary suggested extending such plans to the district levels, promoting localized efforts. Arshad Samad Khan, National Technical Advisor, UNEP NAP Pakistan project, stressed the imperative nature of building resilience in communities, systems, and infrastructure to tackle climate-induced challenges.
