PPP condemns arrest of workers in NA-127
PPP Secretary General Taj Hyder has written to Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja in this regard
LAHORE: The Pakistan Peoples Party has condemned the arrest of its workers and demanded that the Election Commission of Pakistan take notice of it.
At a press conference here on Monday, Ali Badr, spokesperson of PPP Chairman and candidate from NA-127 Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, said two party members had been arrested on the charge of drug dealing. He said just a day ago, a woman named Khalida Parveen was arrested after she joined the PPP and quit the PMLN. The PPP leader asked police to act as state servants rather than acting on the instructions of PMLN leaders.
Meanwhile, PPP Secretary General Taj Hyder has written to Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja in this regard. In a letter, he told the CEC that PPP supporters were being arrested by the Lahore Police.
It was told that Shahzad and Shahbaz were arrested for joining the PPP. He expressed the fear that ‘fascist’ measures would multiply if timely steps were not taken.
