LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami naib ameer Liaquat Baloch has warned that no one should be deprived of democratic rights by using blind state power, and all should be given equal opportunities in the election. If there is rigging before, during and after the polling, the country’s problems will increase seriously, he said at a press conference at Mansoorah on Monday along with party ticket holders.

Baloch said that national institutions have a constitutional responsibility to ensure transparent elections.

Baloch expressed sorrow that the previous ruling parties presented the blind state power to the establishment in a platter, appealing that it is inevitable that national political parties should create a consensus for strengthening democracy. He said the JI had decided after the last election that it would not make an alliance with anyone. “Our workers are our capital. The Jamaat-e-Islami has issued tickets to 231 candidates for the National Assembly and 535 candidates for the seats of the provincial assemblies. Let the nation support us to achieve the goal of an Islamic welfare and prosperous Pakistan,” he added. Liaquat Baloch said that the politics of Punjab had been taken hostage, the feudal lords and vaders have defamed Punjab by meeting with the powerful circles; the former rulers destroyed the industry and agriculture of the province, distorted the cultural and historical background of Lahore.
