Those afraid of defeat seek postponement of elections: Siraj
LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Sirajul Haq on Sunday said that all the ruling parties, including PMLN, PPP and PTI destroyed the country by plundering public wealth and national resources.
In a statement issued from Mansoora, the JI chief said that despite ruling the country, these parties still want to remain in power to support their personal motives and family monarchy.
He said that the day of February 8 will be the day of mourning for those politicians who wanted dynastic monarchy in the country. Siraj also lamented that neither the country’s courts nor the NAB held the ruling elite accountable for their corrupt practices, however the people will hold them accountable now.
He alleged that Rs13.6 billion were being plundered in the country every day by the ruling elite and bureaucracy, warning that the only way to overcome these crises is transparent elections. “The people will secure the future of the country by voting for the candidates of Jamaat-e-Islami on February 8,” he added.
He said that the people will not accept the postponement of the election in the province. “Some people are in favour of the postponement of the elections as they are afraid of their defeat, but the JI wants timely elections and considers it very important for the bright and prosperous future of Pakistan,” he said.
The JI chief said that the people will an opportunity to change the destiny of the country through the power of their vote on February 8. “In country’s 76 years of history, army generals ruled for 35 years, while for the rest of the time the PMLN, and PPP rules the country and the PTI also maintained the status quo.
He said that instead of fixing the economy of the country, they have destroyed it by taking frequent loans as every child of Pakistan has been tied to the chains of debt and the ropes of the IMF and the World Bank.
He said that instead of abolishing the interest-based economic system, the rulers further imposed various riba-based systems on Pakistan. “Today, these people have no performance to tell the Pakistani nation,” lamented the JI chief.
He said that due to the poor performance of erstwhile governments of PMLN, PPP and PTI, today, the poor people are forced to pay Rs58 for a unit of electricity which costs only Rs2.
