SIFC apex body to meet on Jan 3

ISLAMABAD: The eighth meeting of the Apex Committee of the Special Investment Facilitation Council has been convened.

According to sources, the meeting of the Apex Committee will be held next week on Wednesday (January 3). The meeting, to be presided over by the Prime Minister, will be attended by the Army Chief and the members of the Apex Committee, including Federal Ministers, Chief Ministers and Chief Secretaries. A 29-point agenda will be discussed in the meeting. The Finance Division will give a briefing on the subjects which have been dissolved but where funds are shared.

The developments following the MoUs regarding investments in the banking and economic sectors from the UAE will be reviewed. A briefing will be given on behalf of the Sindh government on the Nagar Parkargar Night Project. A briefing will also be given on behalf of the Balochistan government on Hub Salt Project, BLZ Khuzdar Project, Chagai Mineral Corridor.

The meeting agenda includes, besides other points, establishment of National Industrial Development and Regulatory Authority, PIA liability issues, briefing on completion of transaction of heavy electrical complex, formulation of the export policy, issues of clearance of transit and banking through Iran and Afghanistan, progress on bilateral investment agreements with Saudi Arabia and Qatar will be reviewed, affiliation with international institutions for labor export and training, construction of Nokundi Road.
