Police instituted a blockade in the area to capture the robbers who managed to evade. Sarafa Bazar traders staged a violent protest against insecurity, demanding that the authorities take action.

The district police officer issued a notice regarding the robbery incident and immediate arrest of the robbers.

According to the details, the traders of Khanewal Colony Road, Multan, Muhammad Imran Khurram and Salman arrived in their car from Multan with 8 fellows to supply gold to a jeweller in Sarafa Bazar.

A bag full of gold was snatched from them. At the same time, when Khurram and Salman resisted, the robbers shot and injured them and escaped. On receiving the information, a heavy police force reached the spot and shifted the injured Khurram and Salman to Sheikh Zayed Hospital.

Later, Sarafa Bazar traders staged a shutter-down strike under the leadership of President Sarafa Association Younis Shakir to protest insecurity at City Bridge and raised slogans against the police. The traders said that the police had completely failed to provide protection.

The rising number of robberies is proof that the police are failing to protect citizens, the protesters said.

DPO Rizwan Umar Gondal, taking notice of the robbery, issued directions to immediately arrest the accused and a special team was constituted to arrest the robbers. It should be noted that the daily robbery incidents are increasing across the district.
