PTI ex-MNA moves PHC against repeated arrests
PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader and former lawmaker from Malakand district Junaid Akbar on Saturday moved the Peshawar High Court (PHC) to seek details of cases against him and his repeated arrests.
Syed Sikandar Hayat Shah advocate, counsel for the PTI leader, filed the writ in which the provincial government, Home and Tribal Affairs Department, National Accountability Bureau, Anti-Corruption Establishment, commissioner Malakand and Federal Investigation Agency were made respondents.
His lawyer told the court that the petitioner had been elected twice for Malakand as Member National Assembly and he was arrested from Swat in a case related to the May 9 incidents.
However, he said the ex-lawmaker was again arrested in another case when he secured bail in one case.
The counsel argued that arresting his client in connection with another case after securing bail amounted to political victimization. He requested the court to provide him with the details of all the cases registered against him. He also sought the court orders to prevent the police from arresting his client.
