British envoy meets Fazl
ISLAMABAD: The British High Commissioner, Jane Marriott, and Political Secretary Sam Fletcher met JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman at his residence here on Thursday.
The two sides discussed issues relating to women’s education in Afghanistan, Pakistan’s relations with Afghanistan and India and the return of Afghan refugees to their country.
According to JUI-F sources, Maulana Fazlur Rehman blamed the Western support to Israel for the continuing barbaric acts in Gaza and killing of thousands of innocent civilians in attacks. He also demanded an immediate end to the Israeli attacks on Palestinians.
The British high commissioner sought the support of JUI-F chief on women’s education in Afghanistan. Fazlur Rehman said that he and his party were not against women’s education but every issue would have to be seen from Pashtun perspective and local traditions there. He further pointed out that the law and order situation in Afghanistan was also improving with the return of peace there. Hafiz Hamdullah and other JUI-F leaders were also present on the occasion.
