PTI decides to speed up political activities
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's core committee Monday decided to speed up peaceful political activities across the country in the run up to the general elections.
The core committee during its meeting reviewed the current political situation and trials of PTI Chairman Imran Khan and other matters.
The forum said that after Khyber Pakhtunkhwa approval had been given to hold worker convention in Punjab while instructions have been issued to organizational officials to make plans and preparations to start the process of organizing worker convention across Punjab soon.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s nominated Barrister Gohar Ali Khan was congratulated on his election as the party chairman and all those responsible for the election unopposed.
The core committee assured full support and cooperation to the newly elected chairman and conveyed best wishes and best wishes to him. It noted PTI founder Chairman Imran Khan has hit back at decades of dynastic politics in the country by nominating a capable and loyal party worker. The core committee has already allocated the post of life-long chairman to founder chairman Imran Khan.
The meeting expressed serious concern over non-release of funds for national elections and demanded of the caretaker government to release funds for holding general elections immediately, as the entire nation is aware of the real intentions and goals of the caretaker government regarding free, fair and transparent elections.
The nation will not accept any obstruction in the way of holding the elections on the scheduled date due to non-availability/ provision of finance or any kind of unconstitutional and illegal manipulation,” the committee made it clear.
The core committee also reacted strongly against taking returning officers from the administration instead of the judiciary and said the decision to hire administrative officers to conduct elections instead of the judiciary is a plan to rig the elections in all respects.
It warned that any deliberate or unintentional attempt to disturb the transparency of elections will be a criminal attack on the national interest and democracy, and that the nation will neither accept any such attempt nor will it allow the election to be robbed by administrative officers.
The Election Commission, it stressed, should immediately withdraw the decision to appoint administrative officers as ROs and hand over the responsibility of conducting elections to neutral judicial officers.
The core committee strongly protested on denial of free access to national and international media to trial of founder Chairman Imran Khan in jail despite the court order. It noted the open trial has no status due to denial of access to the trial of domestic and foreign media representatives, independent observers or the public.
“The government should stop blowing the court order in the air and give unrestricted access to the representatives of the domestic and foreign media on the next hearing.”
