In a recent turn of events, an oil snatching incident at gunpoint in the Tipu Sultan area emerged as a “staged drama” on Friday, leading to the arrest of the vehicle's driver and police officers who collaborated in the crime.
A few days ago, a vehicle transporting oil cans was reported snatched within the remits of the Tipu Sultan police station. District East SSP Irfan Bahadur provided details, stating that the incident unfolded in Jamshed Division. Among the suspects, two individuals were said to be dressed in police uniforms, and, along with other accomplices, they carried out the robbery.
SSP Bahadur said that upon receiving this information, an FIR was registered under Section 395, and a special team was formed, led by ASI Altaf Abbasi. Technical experts from Jamshed Division and IT specialists from District East provided assistance to the team. During the interrogation, discrepancies were found in the statements of the driver, identified as Imran. However, with the support of various pieces of evidence and technical analysis, the police were able to unravel the truth behind the purported robbery.
The police report revealed that the entire incident was, in fact, a staged drama orchestrated by the driver, Imran, in collaboration with his friend Nadir Sultan. Sultan enlisted the help of his friends, police constable Sheikh Ghalib and constable Naveed, both serving in the Anti-Riot Force at the PHQ South, for assistance in the plan.
SSP Bahadur further stated that, after all the facts came to light, the suspects confessed to their crime. The purpose of the staged robbery was to obtain funds through insurance and selling the stolen oil. The police arrested all four suspects, including Nadir Sultan, Imran, and police constables Sheikh Ghalib and Naveed.
