Police say pictures of girls were doctored

PESHAWAR: Police said a girl in Kolai Palas district was rescued after her doctored pictures with a boy appeared on social media while father of another female was arrested for allegedly killing his daughter over honour after her edited pictures went viral.

A source said the pictures of two different girls from two villages of Kolai-Palas district with two different boys appeared on social media a few days back.Police said in both the cases the pictures were edited and these appeared from fake social media accounts.

The issue enraged the family of one young girl, Reema, who was killed allegedly by her father over honour, the other day.“Police while acting promptly arrested the father and recovered the weapon. 

He will be produced before the court tomorrow,” Regional Police Officer of Hazara Muhammad Ijaz Khan, told The News. He added that police were raiding the villages to arrest those who were involved in the decision to kill the girl.

The officer said police were informed about thesecond case in another village at some distance.“The district police officer along with a party traveled for three hours to go to the village and rescued the other girl. She was produced before the magistrate where she said there is no threat to her life after which the court handed her over to the family,” Ijaz said, confirming the earlier reports and that the girl was married yesterday.

He added the police were keeping an eye on the girl who has been handed over to the family. Besides, he added, police along with other agencies were probing to find as to who was behind the fake accounts that led to the killing of one girl.
