PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council has cancelled the licenses of 20 lawyers on the charges of providing fake credentials to the body.
This was decided at the executive committee meeting of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council with its Chairman Syed Mubashir Shah Advocate in the chair. Other members of the bar council, including Mohammad Ali Khan Jadoon, Syed Taimur Ali Shah and Shah Hussain Khan, also attended the meeting.
The lawyers, whose licenses were cancelled, belonged to various parts of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The lawyers, whose licenses were cancelled, had attached fake documents and test results with their applications for the grant of the licenses.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council had sent the documents to the Higher Education Commission for verification. The bar council had issued notices to the lawyers for hearing their viewpoint and the action was taken after giving them the chance to present their point of view.
The meeting sent its recommendations to the general body of the bar council to take further action against the lawyers. The meeting sent a copy of its notification to the bar councils, registration of the Peshawar High Court, relevant district bar associations and district and sessions judges.
