ISLAMABAD: Secretary General of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Syed Nayyar Hussain Bokhari has said that the PPP has a clear position on level playing field for all and the PPP expects that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will fulfill its constitutional responsibility of conducting free, fair and transparent elections as if the elections are not held transparently then it will distrust on the ECP.

“If free, fair and transparent elections are not held then anarchy will spread,” he warned in a statement on Tuesday. Bokhari said the former president Asif Zardari has clearly define the role of the ECP and the caretaker governments for free, fair and transparent elections.

He said that the repeat of year 2018 will not be beneficial for the country as a personality’s impression of the prime minister is tantamount to be a pre-election rigging. “Elections conducted in favour of anyone’s facilitation will be a question mark on all the process of elections,” he said.

Bokhari said there is a question on what basis the leaders of a party are announcing the results before the elections. He said the acquittal on the basis of statements in of NAB officers’ in the courts is a question mark.

“The question is whether NAB was wrong in the past or is it wrong today,” he said.

The PPP secretary general said that the favorite bureaucrats of Shehbaz Sharif era are in same positions at whose behest. He said that the position of the PPP, which believes in democracy and the democratic parliamentary system, is that the criminals of the state are ineligible for the elections.
