Crackdown on illegal gold extraction

NOWSHERA: A team led by the additional secretary mines conducted a raid in Nizampur area against those illegally extracting gold from the Indus River and arrested 13 people.
Heavy machinery was seized and four cases were registered as a result of the raid, which was also participated by assistant directors from Mines Department of other districts, additional assistant commissioner for revenue, and police force.
Additional Secretary Mines Musarrat Zaman said on the occasion that the Mines Department has decided to establish regular check-posts at various spots, including the river to prevent the illegal extraction of gold.
