Businesses discuss SDGs progress
KARACHI: A two-day summit on creating livelihoods for Pakistan's workforce concluded in Karachi with a panel discussion from the country's top businesses, highlighting their progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The summit, organized by the Centre of Excellence in Responsible Business (CERB) under the banner of the Pakistan Business Council (PBC), focused on how to foster inclusion, upskilling and sustainable supply chains in line with the SDGs.
Top leadership from EBM, Unilever Pakistan, Dalda Foods and Engro Corporation shared the progress their companies had made on Agenda 2030 and how much further we have to go as a country.
The summit focused on SDG 3 Good Health and Well Being, SDG 4 Quality Education, SDG 8 Decent work and economic growth and SDG 10 Reducing Inequalities.
The workshops covered a wide range of topics, from how to make a winning DEI strategy, to creating accessible workplaces and how to upskill your supply chain and ensure their health and well-being.
The event also launched a report titled ‘Landscape Analysis of Disability Inclusion in Corporate Pakistan’ spotlighting the commendable efforts undertaken by the corporate sector in fostering the inclusion of Persons with Disabilities.
Throughout the two days, 80+ participants attended the summit and benefited from the sessions. The event included experts from the Federal SDG Unit conducting a session on business disclosures on the SDGs which aimed to help businesses fill the gaps between having policies, implementing them and then completing the circle by reporting them.
The two-day summit showcased strategies implemented by Unilever, Toyota, HBL, EBM, Dalda Foods and Engro Corporation on advancing human capital.
