Arrest warrants for Kanju, others
LAHORE
A Lahore High Court division bench on Tuesday issued non-bailable warrants for the arrest of former state minister Siddique Kanju’s son Mustafa Kanju and other suspects for not attending proceedings of prosecution appeal against their acquittal in Zain murder case.
An anti-terrorism court had on October 27, 2015 acquitted Mustafa Kanju and his guards of the charges of killing a 16-year-old boy Zain and injuring another Hasnain.
The prosecution department challenged the acquittal of the suspect on direction of the Supreme Court in a suo motu case.
Prosecution told the bench that the prime suspect (Kanju) had left the country on October 30, 2015 and summons issued by the court were not served on him. The bench directed the police to produce the suspects on April 20.
election: The Lahore High Court on Monday overruled the office objection and ordered to fix before a bench for hearing a petition challenging the election of PML-N Punjab Assembly Member Mian Tariq.
The PML-Q candidate Ijaz Chaudhry had challenged the election of Mian Tariq Mahmood from PP-113, Gujrat-IV.
The LHC office had returned the petition objecting that the petition was not maintainable as the petitioner should approach proper forum of election tribunal.
On Tuesday, it came up for hearing before Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi as an objection case. Petitioner counsel claimed that the office had no authority to raise objection as it was only the court’s prerogative.
Judge overruled the objection and ordered to fix the petition for initial hearing.
Petitioner claimed that Mian Tariq was not righteous person as he did not disclose his foreign assets in Belgium in his nomination papers. He said in the tenure of former government, Tariq kept on doing job in Belgium while he was a sitting MPA in Pakistan.
The petitioner pointed out that Tariq had also secured Belgian passport but he concealed all these facts in his nomination papers. He requested that Mian Tariq should be held disqualified under article 62 and 63 of the Constitution.

She said that she had a bitter wedlock and a few days ago her husband kicked her out from his house but did not allow her to bring her son. She implored the court for the recovery of her son.
On her plea, the court appointed the SHO concerned as bailiff. On Tuesday, the SHO produced minor before the court after getting him recovered from the illegal custody of father. The court has handed over child to her mother.
