KARACHI: Meezan Bank launched a WhatsApp banking service that allows customers to access a wide range of account management services without visiting the bank's website or logging in to the mobile application, a statement said on Tuesday.

The service, developed in collaboration with Infobip, is available 24/7 and offers customers instant access to services such as checking account balances, generating IBAN, viewing transaction history, downloading account statements, and obtaining tax certificates.

Customers can simply send a message to Meezan Bank's verified business account on WhatsApp to get started. The service eliminates unnecessary waiting time for customers by adopting a conversational messaging model.

"The launch of Meezan WhatsApp Banking provides our customers with a globally recognized digital touchpoint that offers instant access to multiple account management services," said Irfan Siddiqui, Founding President and CEO of Meezan Bank. "This new service will reinforce our commitment towards delivering state-of-the-art digital solutions for our customers."

Faiz ur Rehman, Group Head Information Technology at Meezan Bank, said that the WhatsApp banking service will help the bank serve its customers through the most commonly used household social media app.

"The high compatibility and acceptance of WhatsApp services around the world has given us a leverage to customize our communications as per customer profiles," he said.
