Senate polls: PML-Q formally announces support to PPP

LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Q would support the Pakistan People’s Party in Punjab in the upcoming Senate polls, PML-Q Punjab General Secretary Chaudhry Zaheeruddin formally announced at a press conference here Thursday.
The two sides have also made public the names of the joint candidates. Former MNA Nadeem Afzal Chan will be the joint PPP and PML-Q candidate for general seat, while Sarwat Khalid Malik will contest for women and Malik Nausher Khan Anjum Langrial, former MPA from Vehari, for the technocrat seat, respectively.
The press conference was also addressed by PPP Central Punjab President Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo. MPAs including Waqas Moakkel, Pir Ahmed Shah Khagga, Khadija Umar Farooqui, Qazi Ahmed Saeed, Khurrem Jehangir Wattoo were also present on the occasion.
Manzoor Wattoo expressed his gratitude to PML-Q leadership including Ch Shujaat Hussain and Ch Pervaiz Elahi. He said the PPP-PML-Q alliance would continue in the coming days also. He said after elections, the PML and PPP seats in Senate would be more in number than that of PML-N and the two parties jointly would have clear majority in the upper house of the parliament to play an effective role in national matters.
