BARA: Seven suspected militants were killed and 15 others sustained injuries when jet fighters hit targets in the Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency, official sources said on Thursday.
They said the jet fighters targeted the sanctuaries of proscribed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Lashkar-e-Islam (LI) in Sra Vella, Tor Darra, Nagrosa and Spin Drung in the Kukikhel area of Tirah Valley. Seven suspected militants were killed and 15 others were injured in the air strikes, sources said. Seven hideouts were also destroyed in the action, they added.
After clearing major areas in Bara Tehsil, including Khajuri, Akakhel, Shalobar, Malikdinkhel, Kamarkhel, Qambarkhel and Sepah of militants, security forces have been engaged in fierce clashes with militants in Tirah Valley, bordering the Orakzai and Kurram agencies, for the past three months.Security forces intensified the operation against the militants after the terrorist attack on the Army Public School and College in Peshawar on December 16, 2014.
