Another wet spell

The last wet spell of the current month is likely to begin in Islamabad and adjoining areas today (Thursday).

According to a spokesman for the Pakistan Meteorological Department, a fresh western disturbance is likely to grip upper parts of the country today (Thursday) and thus, causing downpours until Saturday.

“Under the influence of the new weather system, scattered thundershowers are expected in Balochistan on Thursday and Friday, widespread downpours in Fata, KP and Azad Jammu and Kashmir from Thursday to Saturday; scattered rainfall in Islamabad and upper parts of Punjab including Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore and Faisalabad divisions from Thursday to Sunday, and isolated showers in Bahawalpur, Multan and DG Khan in south Punjab and Sukkur and Larkana in upper Sindh between Thursday and Friday,” he said.

The weatherman said thundershowers in upper Punjab and KP could be accompanied by isolated hailstorm.

He said during rains, there was be high risk of land sliding in the vulnerable areas of Malakand and Hazara divisions and Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Friday and Saturday.  The spokesman said the fresh wet spell was the last one in the month and that there was a likelihood of only one spell of rains occurring next month.
