Rs755m projects to usher in new era of prosperity in Mohmand Agency: MNA

GHALLANAI: Member National Assembly (MNA) from Mohmand Agency, Bilal Rahman, on Sunday said that Rs755 million record mega development projects had been initiated to provide basic amenities of life to the people of tribal region at their doorstep.

Talking to The News, the MNA said that work was in full swing on the construction of a power grid station in the far-off Baizai tehsil, located near the Pak-Afghan border area. He said Rs450 million was estimated cost of the project, which on completion will solve the longstanding issue of electricity supply to the area people.

“Besides this, a 26KV power transformer is being installed at Prang Ghar with a cost of Rs120 million to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity to the area,” he said, adding that work was also going on various projects in education health, communication & works and other sectors to further improve literacy and health facilities and provide potable water to the tribespeople of the agency.

The lawmaker said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had allocated such a huge amount from his discretionary fund for the uplift projects in the Mohmand Agency, which would facilitate the people and usher in a new era of development and prosperity.

He said installation of a separate power feeder for Ghallanai to Ekkaghund had already been completed with a cost of Rs25 million, while Rs100 million had been released for installing the transformer and electricity line for Michini from Warsak grid station.

Similarly, he said that two schemes to install six and two solar powered tube-wells were being carried out in Pandyalai and Ambar tehsils, respectively to solve the issue of potable water in these areas.

The schemes, he said, would cost Rs10 million, while work is also in full swing on laying a pipeline from natural water springs to Khanqah and Shandara areas of Safi and Baizai tehsils. “In education sector, we have approved two primary schools for various areas in Ambar tehsil to improve child literacy there, while Rs50 million were being spent on the construction of Michini-Sparay road to facilitate transportation in the area,” the MNA said.
