Ex-senator stopped at Abu Dhabi airport
ISLAMABAD: Interpol warrant for former senator Saifur Rehman was withdrawn on Monday. Saifur Rehman was stopped by immigration officials at Abu Dhabi airport when he arrived there from Doha. The immigration officials told him that his name was on the list of Interpol. The friends of the former senator contacted concerned officials in Islamabad in this regard and then Saifur Rehman was allowed to go after receiving necessary documents from Islamabad. While talking to The News from Abu Dhabi on telephone, Saifur Rehman said that vindictive action was taken against him in the past and Interpol warrant was issued against him by registering a case. He said that on this case he was questioned at Abu Dhabi airport. He said he was neither arrested nor confined at the airport. He said he was cleared after 20 to 25 minutes after receiving necessary documents from Islamabad.
