Muslims need unity more than N-bomb: Siraj
Says Women Protection Bill an attempt to hit family system
LAHORE
Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that in the prevailing situation, Muslims needed unity more than the nuclear bomb.
He was speaking as chief guest at the Ittehad e Ummah Conference organised by the Hadyatul Huda, Pakistan, Lahore chapter, at the Aiwan e Iqbal. Railways Minister Khwaja Saad Rafique, Syed Haroon Gilani and Maulana Amir Hamza also addressed the moot. Sirajul Haq said that the Muslim world stood divided today and Muslim blood was being shed in Syria, Palestine, Afghanistan, Kashmir while Pakistan was also facing terrorism. He said US President Obama had stated that the region would remain unstable for the next two decades, which clearly implied that western powers had planned to keep the region disturbed and a target of terrorism for a long period. The JI chief said that 70 per cent of arms and ammunition of colonial powers were purchased by Muslim states, and these arms and ammunition were being used by Muslim states against each other.
Commenting on a bill passed by the Punjab Assembly to control domestic violence, the JI chief said that the new law had been rejected even by women and it was an attempt to hit the family system and would affect relations between male and female family members. He said it was the western agenda to demolish the family system and Muslims traditions and civilization.
Sirajul Haq further said that everybody talked of the rule of the constitution and the law but practically did nothing in this direction. He said that first the Holy Quran and the Sunnah were the constitution for the country. Next was the 1973 constitution that had been passed unanimously. Then, there was our civilization and culture that had to be preserved under all circumstances. He said that the 1973 constitution was not being implemented in its true spirit, because if it had been implemented in totality, corruption could not become such a big problem. He said that if corruption was controlled, all our institutions could be in order and the problems of the masses could be resolved. Sirajul Haq said the JI was launching a countrywide drive against corruption from March 1, and hoped that people from all walks of life would support the campaign for a corruption-free Pakistan.
drive against extremism: Pakistan Ulema Council has decided to wage a countrywide campaign for eradication of extremism, terrorism and sectarian violence and educate people with real message of Islam.Addressing a meeting of Pakistan Ulema Council, Lahore Division ‘office-bearers’ here on Sunday, Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi said that Ulema conventions and seminars would be arranged all over Pakistan from March 10 to May 15, 2016 and ‘Ittehad-e-Ummat Conferences’ would be arranged.
