CTD arrests alleged terrorist

PESHAWAR: The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has arrested an alleged terrorist near Pishtakhara Chowk and recovered explosives planted in a bottle.A press release said Afghan national Gul Mannan was arrested during an action near Ring Road when he was carrying two hand grenades and a bomb planted in a bottle.

 

25 injured as Swat school wall collapses

MINGORA: Twenty-five students sustained injuries as a boundary wall of a private school collapsed in Khwazakhela tehsil of Swat district, police said on Friday.They said that the students were playing in the courtyard of a private school in Shalpin area when the wall collapsed. They said that 25 schoolchildren were wounded in the incident.

 

Bullet-riddled bodies of two brothers found in Mardan

MARDAN: The bullet-riddled bodies of two brothers were found dumped in the limits of Saddar Police Station, police sources said on Friday. One Muzaffar Khan, a resident of Islamabad Koroona in Par Hoti, told the police that unidentified persons killed his two sons, Mohammad Waqas, 24, and Mohammad Abbas, 22, and dumped their bodies on the Malikabad Road in the limits of Saddar Police Station. He told the police that he had no enmity. The bodies were handed over to the family for burial after medico-legal formalities, police said. The motive behind the double murders couldn’t be ascertained.

 

Mansehra LG entities get Rs1.5 billion

MANSEHRA: Deputy Commissioner Iqbal Hussain has said that the provincial government has transferred Rs1.54 billion into the accounts of different entities of local government in the district to solve various civic problems.“The local government system started benefiting people in the district now as the government has transferred more than Rs1.54 billion in accounts of district, tehsil, village and neighbourhood councils so far and more funds are likely soon,” Hussain told reporters here on Friday.Assistant Commissioner Naveed Ahmad and Tehsil Nazim Mansehra Khuram Khan were also present on the occasion.
