RAWALPINDI: Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan assailed political enemies for spreading false rumours that Imran has contracted a marriage with a Pakistani journalist, who also worked with the BBC in the past.
Talking to the Daily Mail, Aleema says she will only be happy when Imran marries a ‘good person.’Imran’s sister Aleema said when the family asked him about his marriage he denied it. Imran denied the report by tweeting that his marriage rumours are ‘greatly exaggerated.’
Rumours about Imran and Reham Khan’s marriage were also being echoed in the Pakistani media. A British newspaper with a large circulation, the Daily Mail, had reported about the marriage of Imran Khan with Reham Khan, who is a divorcee and mother of three children. Another British newspaper Mirror had also published report about Imran’s marriage.
Imran Khan’s sister has accused opposition politicians in Pakistan of spreading a damaging rumour that he is getting married in order to ruin his standing in the polls.Aleema Khan said her brother was the victim of a smear campaign and that he had personally assured the family ‘a few days ago’ that he was not intending to marry the divorced local female journalist. The female journalist had also denied rumours about her marriage with Imran Khan in a TV programme.
There is a mixed reaction to the rumours about Imran’s marriage in Pakistan and abroad. Imran had stated about two months ago in Islamabad sit-in that he wanted to marry after achieving objectives of the sit-in.
