‘Robber’ killed in encounter

Police claimed killing an alleged robber while he and his three accomplices were robbing a house in the Awami Colony police limits on Monday.
The robber, whose identity was not immediately released, was killed when police arrived at the house after being informed of the robbery and engaged the suspects in a shootout. However, his three accomplices managed to flee.
The police found the family locked in a room.
According to a police official, the deceased was an Afghan national and appeared to be 30 years old.
Carpet shop owner shot dead
The owner of a carpet shop was shot dead in the Orangi Town police limits on Monday.
Sitting outside his home, 60-year-old Shabbir Ahmed was targeted by gunmen in Sector 11/E of the Orangi Town.
The culprits escaped from the scene, and the victim was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in a critical condition; however, he succumbed to his injuries.
A medico-legal officer said the victim had suffered a bullet wound to the head.
According to police, the man was killed due to a personal enmity and empty casings of a 9MM pistol were found on the spot.
