Meghan Markle left Kate Middleton speechless at 2018 Trooping the Colour
Prince Harry recalls cringe-worthy exchange between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton
As the British royal family marks Trooping the Colour celebration on Saturday, an awkward exchange between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton has resurfaced from 2018 celebration.
In his memoir, Spare, Prince Harry recalled the awkward interaction during Meghan's first appearance at the annual royal event. The event took place just weeks after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's wedding.
Harry revealed that the atmosphere among family members was positive as they gathered for the traditional military parade. However, Harry wrote, "Kate asked Meg what she thought of her first Trooping the Colour. And Meg joked: Colourful."
The duke shared that what followed was an uncomfortable pause, "A yawning silence threatened to swallow us all whole."
This has once again sparked discussion about the relationship between Meghan and Kate. In fact, Prince Harry has previously argued that comparisons drawn by the British press contributed perceptions of rivalry between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton.
As the celebration of The Trooping the Colour took place today, Buckingham palace dropped photo of King Charles and Queen Camilla all set to leave palace.
"The King and Queen leave Buckingham Palace for The King’s Birthday Parade, also known as Trooping the Colour," the caption of the post read.
